The Miller Brewing Co. tossed its first big bowling party, the $60,000 High Life Open, and Bill Lillard quaffed the victory stein to the tune of $10,000.
Lillard, who was in second place after the first 40 games, overcame the leader, Ted Hoffman, 215-206, in the televised finale to take home the first place check.
Lillard worked his way through his first two TV tests with 225 wins over Jim Stefanich (183) and Pete Tountas (188).
