The date was
November 10, 1984 at the Satellite Bowl in Dearborn Heights, Michigan (Aleta
Sill's home bowling lanes). The final championship match featured #3 seed Mark
Roth vs. #1 seed Pete Weber. Each bowler had each won two titles in 1984. This
match became a playoff for player of the year honors, as there were three more
events after this. The winner of the match would receive $18,000, with the
runner up earning $9,500. This event was shown on NBC as part of their fall tour
coverage. Jay Randolph and Earl Anthony were the announcers.
On a side note, Satellite Lanes was a 84 lane establishment. I used to work
there in the snack shop for about 2 months. It has since closed down, and the
site is now home to a Home Depot.
I hope you enjoy the match.
