The date was January 5, 1980, the very first telecast of the Pro Bowlers Tour for the new decade, the 1980s.  The place was Mel's Southshore Bowl at Alameda, California for the $85,000 ARC Alameda Open.  In the opening match, which involved Mark Roth vs. Bill Struab, Roth left the 7-10 split, and spared it!  It's probably one of the most famous shots replayed over and over again on the Pro Bowlers Tour.  Subsequently, whenever anyone left the 7-10, they always showed Roth's shot.

Anyway, here it is:  http://youtube.com/watch?v=gPllVnruRAc
